FTP: file transfer protocol
During the early years of the Internet, FTP was a standard method for
tranfering files from one computer to another. There are a wide variety
of software packages available for free; however, FTP is not secure.
A better method for moving files is SCP -- Secure Copy. SCP software is
also available for free or as shareware. For example, WINscp is
for use with the Windows operating system.
